President's Message

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE DECEMBER 2022

Its hard to believe we are in December already. What a fabulous year we have had with our outgoing Club President Jim Garis and the support of the NBC Committee.

While Jim has shared the highlights of the year, and there were many, I wanted to make special mention of our outgoing committee members. Huge thanks to Jess Cole, Jodi O’Connor and Louise Mackay who served on the committee throughout the year and made a fantastic contribution to the smooth running of our events. We appreciate you bringing your expertise and time. Thank you.

Thank you also to our 2022 luncheon Sponsors Newcastle Permanent Building Society and Ooh Media as well as Newcastle Herald, Peter Drayton WinesSnapper Studios and Wrapped to You.

I am honored to be taking on the role of President for the year ahead and thrilled to be working with a high caliber team on the Committee. Our incoming committee are Senior Vice President-Rob Dawson, Junior Vice President- Matt Taylor, Treasurer- Samantha Miller, Sargent At Arms- Joshua Hogan, Committee Members- Stephanie Jordan, Jolly Martin, Jim Garis and John Cleary.

Our December luncheon was loads of fun with Peter Drayton and Peter Lucas giving us a delicious wine tasting followed by a competitive game of heads and tales. Garth Russell nailed the brief of MC, interviewing Peter on a wide range of interests. My favorite snippet of information was that Peter met his wife at a Radiators concert and while pressure from the crowd was not enough to inspire Peter to belt out a tune for us, we did see a great Photo of Peter fronting for the band in concert thanks to Eddie Cross.

The event was sponsored by Sarah Marco from Innerworks Business Solutions. Sarah shared the many ways Innerworks help their clients get time back through outsourcing and recruitment. I was very impressed to hear that Innerworks have helped raise over $16 million for charities.

Our Charity for the event was Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation. Cathy Adams shared the staggering statistics around the incidence of Breast Cancer and reminded us that many families will be impacted over the holiday break. Peter Drayton donated 100 bottles of wine for a wine tree and funds raised from the ticket purchases are going to Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation.

Thank you everyone for coming along and connecting with other Novocastrians throughout the year.

Our first event in 2023 is February 7th. Pop the date in your diary now and let your friends know to do the same.

Have a safe and fun holiday break.
